The Acura Classic has designated the Scripps Polster Breast Care Center as its prime charity beneficiary for 2006. The centerpiece of the tournament's charitable effort on behalf of the Center will be a gala benefit dinner to be held August 3rd. All proceeds from the dinner will go directly to the Scripps Polster Breast Care Center, located on the campus of Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. In addition to cocktails and a buffet dinner, guests will enjoy silent and live auctions, as well as appearances by world-renowned women tennis stars. The 2005 Annual Charity Event took place at the La Costa Resort and Spa during the Acura Classic. $280,400 was raised to benefit the Scripps Polster Breast Care Center.

The event, which was held on Thursday, August 4th, began with Kim Clijsters coming on stage to help auction off one of her signed racquets.
