Greulich
Background: Greulich is a former teacher who has
been retired for the past 20 years. She and her husband currently
live in Whittier, Ca.
Volunteer title: Her volunteer title is Day Usher
Coordinator.
Number of years as Acura Classic volunteer: She
has been a tournament volunteer since 2001. She and her husband
were spectators at the Acura Classic since the mid- 1990s.
Favorite tournament match: The 1998 Acura Classic
final between Mary Pierce and Lindsay Davenport, which Greulich
attended as a fan. “It was a good match. That year I was invited
to come down the court to hit a ball for a prize and I won a VCR.
The main prize was a trip to Hawaii, but I really wanted the VCR,
so I was happy.”
Favorite tennis player: Lindsay Davenport. Greulich
is a big Davenport fan. The first time she saw her play, Lindsay
was 16 years old.
Favorite place to play tennis: Greulich has played
in many different locations. She likes playing at the La Habra Tennis
Center in La Habra.
Favorite book: Any book by David McCullough, author
of 1776 and John Adams. He was twice winner of the National Book
Award and a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner.
Favorite place to visit: Paris, France. “We’ve
had a lot of good times there,” Greulich said.
Favorite hobbies: Reading and cooking.
Favorite music: She enjoys music from the Swing
Era.
Personal note: Greulich was named 2004 Volunteer
of the Year for the Museum Guild of The Children’s Museum
at La Habra.
