Second-seeded Jelena Jankovic of Serbia used a strong baseline game to overpower American Vania King, 6-3, 6-0, in one hour and two minutes to advance to the third round of the 2007 Acura Classic.
Jankovic, who reached the French Open semifinals earlier this year, took a 3-0 lead in the first set as she lost only six points. King would come back to win three of the four games, but the Serbian still had a 4-3 lead.
After Jankovic easily held serve for a 5-3 lead, King served to stay in the first set, but was broken at love.
The Serbian swept the second set at love in 31 minutes as she broke King’s serve three times.
