The top-seeded doubles team of Cara Black and Liezel Huber rallied for a 4-6, 6-4, 10-5, semi-final victory at the Acura Classic over the third-seeded team of Yung-Jan Chan and Chia-Jung Chuang of Chinese Taipei.
With the victory, Black and Huber advance to the Acura Classic doubles final. Black who won doubles titles here in 2001, 2004 and 2006 will attempt to win her fourth career Acura Classic doubles title. She and Huber will face Anna Chakvetadze and Victoria Azarenka in Sunday’s final.
Black and Huber had faced Chan and Chuang once before as they defeated them in the finals of the 2007 Australian Open in a three-set match.
On Saturday night, it was another tough match for Black and Huber as they dropped the first set when Huber, serving to stay in the match, was broken at 4-5.
In the second set, Black and Huber used two service breaks to take a 4-1 lead and then hung on to take a 5-4 lead. This time Huber served for the second set and came back from a 15-30 deficit to hold serve and win the set.
In the Match Tiebreak, Black and Huber used solid service returns and winning volleys to take a 9-5 lead. On match point, Chan netted a forehand service return to end the match.
