SAN DIEGO, CA, July 31, 2005 – Tennis legend Martina Navratilova
(USA) will play doubles with
Anna-Lena Groenefeld (GER) at the 2005 Acura Classic. This will
be Navratilova’s third consecutive year playing doubles in
San Diego, having reached the quarterfinals in 2003 and the semi-finals
in 2004.
Her illustrious career includes 167 singles titles and 174 doubles
titles. She also holds a total of 58 Grand Slam titles in singles,
doubles and mixed doubles.
“We’re so happy to have Martina playing doubles again
this year. It’s a special treat for San Diego fans to get
the opportunity to watch one of the greatest women athletes of all
time,” noted Raquel Giscafré, tournament director.
It is expected that Navratilova and Groenefeld will play on Tuesday
night, August 2nd.
