CARLSBAD, CA, May 20, 2005 – The 2005 Acura Classic, held July 30 - August 7 at the La Costa Resort & Spa, is currently looking for volunteers to join one of the summer’s biggest events in the San Diego area. The Acura Classic, now in its 22nd year, is one of the 10 largest non-Grand Slam women’s tournaments in the world and the only Tier I level tournament in the U.S. between the French Open and the end of the year. Among the players scheduled to compete this year are:
Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, Kim Clijsters,
Lindsay Davenport, Conchita Martinez, Mary Pierce, and Elena Dementieva.
“Our volunteers have been an important part of the tournament since the very beginning,“ says tournament promoter Jane Stratton. “Hundreds have participated over the years, and many return again and again to help out everywhere from courtside to the ticket booth. We love to see all the familiar faces every summer and look forward to welcoming newcomers as well.”
Acura Classic volunteers work in a variety of areas, including Ushers, Ticket-Takers,
Gatekeepers, Player/Guest Reception, Court Services, Media Center, Will Call and more.
