2005 ACURA CLASSIC AT LA COSTA RESORT AND SPA ANNOUNCES
MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS TO TOURNAMENT GROUNDS

New Second Show Court To Feature Additional Night Matches for First Time

SAN DIEGO, CA, May 17, 2005 – The Acura Classic, to be held July 30 – August 7, 2005 at the La Costa Resort and Spa, has undergone a major facelift that will make the annual world-class tennis event even more enjoyable for fans. Thanks to the addition of a brand new 1,300-seat fully lighted second show court, attendees will be able to enjoy even more top player action, including the tournament’s first-ever second-court night matches on Monday, August 1st and Tuesday, August 2nd. Additionally, due to the increased draw size of this year’s event, the match schedule will also include play on a third and fourth side court, with triple the seating of last year’s side courts.

Other improvements made to the tournament grounds for this year’s event include an additional 600 luxury box seats in the main show court stadium. The main court’s lighting system has also been upgraded with new, more powerful lights that provide more evenly distributed illumination, affording a better nighttime view from all seats.

In addition to the significant improvements made to the tournament grounds, attendees at this year’s Acura Classic will notice major improvements to the La Costa Resort and Spa itself. Brand new concrete walkways now surround the main stadium court, and the resort has also been revamped with a new world-class fitness center facility, 474 new fully renovated first class guest rooms, a new restaurant called the BlueFire Grill, as well as a new world class spa and conference center.

Noted Jane Stratton of Promotion Sports, Inc., “Fans staying at the resort will find the newly renovated La Costa to be spectacular. And with night matches on our new second show court and additional side court seating, they’ll be able to see more exciting action with all of the great players.”
